This February, we highlight Physiotherapy as a core therapeutic discipline within the sub-acute rehabilitation programme at Oasis Care Centre.
Physiotherapy in the sub-acute setting plays a vital role in bridging the gap between acute hospital care and a safe return home or transition to longer-term care. The focus is on restoring functional mobility, balance, strength, endurance, and confidence, while reducing fall risk and promoting independence in daily activities.
Meet the Physiotherapy Team supporting recovery at Oasis:
Gurswhin Davids
Gurswhin is the lead physiotherapist at the Oasis Care Centre and has extensive experience in sub-acute rehabilitation. His clinical focus includes post-hospital functional recovery, orthopaedic and geriatric rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary physiotherapy, gait re-education, and discharge planning. He works closely within the multidisciplinary team to optimise functional outcomes and ensure patients are safe, confident, and well prepared for discharge home.
Kauthar
Kauthar has a strong passion for rehabilitation-focused physiotherapy, with particular interest in functional, goal-directed treatment. She enjoys working in the sub-acute environment where therapy is centred on mobility, balance, and restoring independence. Her approach is engaging and supportive, particularly with geriatric patients, helping them achieve meaningful functional goals.
Kelli
Kelli brings extensive inpatient rehabilitation experience with a special interest in geriatrics, neurological, and complex pain management. In the sub-acute setting, she focuses on patient-centred rehabilitation that addresses both physical limitations and pain, supporting sustainable recovery and long-term functional independence.
Thia
Thia provides patient-centred physiotherapy with experience in neurological and cardiorespiratory rehabilitation. Her role in sub-acute care focuses on restoring safe mobility, endurance, and functional capacity, while tailoring rehabilitation to each patient’s individual needs and abilities.
Together, the physiotherapy team at Oasis delivers structured, evidence-based sub-acute rehabilitation. Each programme is guided by clinical reasoning and functional goals, ensuring patients are safe for discharge, equipped with appropriate assistive devices, and confident in managing daily life as independently as possible.
Physiotherapy at Oasis is about turning recovery into function, confidence, and readiness for life beyond the care centre.
